Problems for the Evolutionist

There are several other areas which present significant problems to the evolutionist that do not have a satisfactory explanation at the present time We would have to discuss just a few of these.

  1. The first of these is the sudden beginning of flowering plants In the late cretatious age there are fossils of an abundance of flowering plants, yet there is no fossil record of any kind of development of these plants Darwin, in his book, quotes this as an abominable mystery.
  2. There is a complete gap of fossil development from invertebrate to vertebrate animals. This also presents a problem.
  3. At the end of the period of the dinosaurs as noted on the chart, suddenly and for no particular reason the dinosaurs disappear. There are no fossil records of slow dying out of these species or of a development into other kinds of creatures. They are just suddenly extinct. Now there are records of turtles, lizards, snakes and crocodiles which survived this period and continued to live on and leave records after this period.
  4. One other area is that of the origin of protein. Protein is one of the most complex compounds known to mankind. None of it has ever been synthesized in the laboratory. The simplest of protein is known as a poly-peptid. The mathematical chance of this poly-peptid being formed by mutations and chance evolution is o.l.
  5. Another interesting fact is the existence of simple forms. There exists at the present time in the world, very simple organisms such as amoeba, paramycium, blue green algae, bacteria and sponges. Now you can see on the chart that these are some of the forms that were supposed to have existed very early in the evolutionary scheme of things. According to the theory of the survival of the fittest and the tendency toward specialization and improvement, all of these simple forms should have been extinct long ago. There is no satisfactory explanation for their existence at the present time.
  6. The last problem is the second law of thermo-dynamics. This law has held true in every physical case where scientists have been able to measure it. It states that in any system with an energy change there is a continual tendency toward greater entropy. This means that there is a tendency toward greater randomness or systems become less complicated and more random as energy is expended. This has been found true of isolated systems and is also believed true of the entire earth Since scientists feel that there is no energy being added to the earth and that an energy gained from cosmic rays or the sun’s rays is lost on the dark side through re-radiation the earth itself would be an example of this because there is no energy being added or lost. However, the interpretations of evolution are directly opposed to this second law. They say that in the development of life and in the expenditure of energy in this development that organic life has actually gone in the other direction from a case of randomness to a case of more orderliness i the organization of organic matter.

Only one man has really attempted seriously approach this problem. A man by the name of H. F. Blum wrote an entire book entitled “Time’s Arrow an Evolution” to prove that evolution does not violate the second law of thermo dynamics. Basically his final conclusion is that the failure of the second law thermo-dynamics as applied to evolution cannot be measured and therefore it must hold. So he admits defeat by proving his point by default.

Summary and Conclusions

Looking back over the material we have discussed, we can draw the following conclusions: Science is only man searching for truth and will always be that even in the eyes of the scientists themselves We have looked at some of the fact which they have discovered. We have looked at some of the hypotheses which they have formulated. We have found that the hypotheses are difficult to them because of the brief time period of our life with respect to the existence of man life; that the conditions are hard isolate and actually measure, and the there are very few facts in the form fossils upon which to formulate hypotheses. We have tested some of the conclusions which have been drawn from facts. We have seen that some of the conclusions do not stand up too well un-penetrating observation. We have see that there are many problems which not have satisfactory answers. Our final conclusion can be that the theory evolution is merely that, a theory. It ,00 many unanswered questions to for valid contradiction to the basic statements found in the Scripture.

From the few basic statements which in be found in the Scriptures, theories in be formulated to fit the facts that exist in nature and be consistent with the remainder of Scripture We have purposely avoided formulating any of these theories This you can do for yourself, it remember, you must be very carefully formulating these theories that they are consistent with the remainder of Scripture and that they do fit the facts that have been discovered by the scientists Our main conclusion is that we should spend most of our time on concentrating on the remainder of the 1350 pages to find a way of salvation for ourselves The words of Solomon are certainly appropriate, “Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man”
