We Were overwhelmed by the warmth, hospitality, and friendliness of Bro. Donald & Sis. Shaffeela West. The Wests use their home to hold meetings three evenings a week in addition to the breaking of bread service on Sunday mornings. Bro. Donald presides and speaks at all of these meetings. Once per month they are assisted by Bro. David Andrews, who visits for a weekend. We had the pleasure of meeting him, along with Sis. Indira, who is resident on the island.
While we were there, attendance was four or five adults, along with the children of the brethren. Frequently others are present. The talks are not wasted on the children, who amazed us with their knowledge of some of the doctrines.
Thankfully, they do receive occasional visits from other brethren, mostly from North America, who assist Donald with this tremendous task. Again, one has to appreciate the great effort in maintaining all of these meetings and tirelessly working at encouraging interested friends, all in addition to the daily demands of work and family.
There seems to be tremendous scope for preaching in this island. The people are very friendly and courteous in receiving literature. From observation, it also seems that the personal interaction of Bro. Donald with his working colleagues could be productive.
These are brothers and sisters in isolation who need our prayers and help as they strive to establish a foothold for the truth. Truly the laborers are few, and we join with our Lord Jesus Christ in his prayer that our Heavenly Father would send laborers into His vineyard.
