Inspired by one of Bro. Bob Lloyd’s catchy statements – “Do what you can with what you have from wherever you are” — the London (West), Ontario ecclesia is preparing Sunday School kits for children in Russia.
The kits consist of a lesson, craft and appropriate treat in a beautifully stitched bag. All the material is in Russian, having been translated from English by Bro. Kostya Krassavin who now lives in Ontario. The kits are then sent in units of 25 or so at a time to the Advancement Trust in London, UK, or are taken by local brethren who are visiting one of the Russian-language Bible schools. Those sent to the UK are either mailed direct to the recipients or transported by UK brethren visiting eastern Europe or Russia. As needed, the London ecclesia is covering postage costs. The treats include such things as a toothbrush, chap stick, mittens, etc. Total cost of each kit is $6.50 CDN.
Using the Internet, translation services are available into several of the languages where the Truth is now spreading, including Albanian. Serbian, etc. The written materials can he ernailed to a translator who in turn emails back the translated material As expected, demand has rapidly exceeded supply so other ecclesias are urged to participate in this project. The undersigned can provide details as to how to get involved in such a project or where financial help can be directed. Those involved at the London ecclesia are prepared to coordinate the activity, provide lesson material, line up translators and even set up a charitable organization to accommodate this effort if that should be needed. All distribution so far has been coordinated with Christadelphian Advancement Trust (see end of News and Notices section). It is highly recommended that activity in other parts of the world be coordinated with the Christadelphian organization already working there.
We frequently see advertisements seeking support for “Save the Children Funds.” This can be a Christadelphian “Save the Children Fund,” which hopefully contributes to ultimately saving the children from sin and death. The London ecclesia would also note that co-operating together on this project has provided great spiritual benefit for themselves.
