In a visit earlier this year, response in this country was excellent. Students wanted to learn more of the hope we teach and a number had asked for baptism. Against this background, a short visit was planned this summer with the help of Bro. Ed Binch whose fluency in Spanish would speed the work planned.

Short notice of the visit combined with a poor mail service to limit advance notification of our students. In spite of these disadvantages, during 18 days we recorded 45 visits to our hotel. Some of the students, like our friends Rene and Elma Estrada and their little family of four small children (Rene was on vacation at the time), came many times.

There were disappointments as in the case of the two groups seeking baptism. One was away on vacation while the second was working on the Caribbean coast, which is a long way from the capital.

Progress was made with our friend, Erwin, who through his own studies of the Bible, had rejected the traditions he had once believed and is moving closer to the Truth. Hopefully, by God’s grace, he will seek baptism.

Each weekend, groups of brothers and sisters from the San Salvador Ecclesia came and worked with our friends. These visited some of our contacts in the capital.

Talks were scheduled for each Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. In fact, however, lateness of arrival prevented many of the talks from being delivered. In their place, individual instruction was given which worked to our advantage as a friend’s own questions could be addressed. The best attendance was nine friends.

Continuing help is needed to bring our friends to a full understanding of the Truth, in God’s grace. One feels guilty when asked, “Why have no Christadelphians come to help us in the last two years?” And, too, the need for money never stops growing. If one cannot go himself, there is always a way to help.

Since the publication of the magazine Buenas Nuevas (Glad Tidings) commenced in Spain, it has been reproduced for use of our students, with about 150 copies being circulated in Guatemala.
