I was watching a soap opera as a complicated scandal unfolded before me.

There was a loud knock at the door. When I answered it I was amazed to see a man in dazzling white clothes. He said: “The Master has come and calleth for thee.”

We were wisked away to a desolate place. There was time to get adjusted. There seemed to be no language barrier. Deciding to talk to someone from ages gone by, I introduced myself to a lady from the first century. Her name was Syntyche and she was from Macedonia.

“It is exciting to meet someone who was alive at the second advent,” she said. “What were you doing the moment our Master returned?”

“I was watching theater on a mechanical box in my living room,” I answered. I described telephones to her. She got excited. “You mean, you can call sick Brethren and Sisters on the phone, or have fellowship with Brethren across the miles?” “I suppose that’s possible,” I said. I had never tried it.

Then we discussed cars. I told her a day’s journey took only 45 minutes in the horseless carriage.

“You were really blessed with this device” she said. “I imagine it helped in hospitality, pastorial care and preaching.” “It had that possibility, I said.”

Then I spoke of the religious freedom of my age.

“You were most fortunate” she commented, “What a great opportunity that was.”

While we were discussing opportunities, I told her about the forty hour week. “You must have had many opportunities to study the Scripture and apply it.” What could I say? I only read the Bible a little every other day.

You have answered a question for me,” Syntyche said. “What’s that?” ‘Now I know why Jesus said, ‘When the Son of Man cometh will he find faith on earth?’ “

At this time the man in dazzling white clothes came. “Are you ready to be judged?” He asked.
