When Fairhaven House opened its doors on June 19, 1958 it became the first Christadelphian Rest Home in the Western Hemisphere. Since that time some guests have entered and are now comfortably settled.

The Home has been designed and furnished to give all who reside there a new outlook and a feeling of “belonging,” but this can only be accomplished successfully by the interest shown by relatives and friends and brethren and sisters. No brethren or sisters in their declining years need live in fear of not having a place to live, of staying in unsuitable surroundings, or of having to depend on strangers for food and shelter.

Fairhaven is not the effort of any single ecclesia but the sharing of the finances by all the ecclesias will make its operation easy for all concerned. Fairhaven is tangible evidence that we who call ourselves the disciples of Jesus are endeavouring to carry out in a practical and realistic way the principles which He himself made manifest.

Many have expressed their interest by donating not only money, but clothing and utensils, etc. While the clothing and utensils are appreciated, they do present a problem. Fairhaven is equipped at present with the essentials, but some may have to be replaced as we approach capacity operation.

There is much that can be done by individuals and groups such as sisters’ classes to help. It is important to let our senior members know that they are not forgotten, and, that their years of faithful service in the Truth can be continued with possibly an ever closer relationship with the Lord and their brethren and sisters. Fairhaven will then come close to being the Home that it is intended to be. Kindly send all group or individual cash donations to the Secretary, Fairhaven House, 123 Isabella Street, Toronto, Canada.
