The purpose of the Truth Corps program is to create a program that will enable young missionaries to enter the field and gain valuable experience. The benefits to be derived from such a program can be better understood after reading the report submitted by Bro. Stan Wilkinson after last summer’s Truth Corps program. Bro. Stan is a resident missionary in Colon, Panama; and lead last summer’s program.
“The blessings of the Truth Corps were many. First of all, our little ecclesia was strengthened in the fellowship we shared with our six young visitors. Secondly, many families in Panama heard the Truth through Bible classes given week after week in their homes. Thirdly, the missionaries here were given new inspiration to continue with the work of preaching away from home, knowing that many back home care enough to give of themselves and of their money to forward missionary efforts in foreign lands. Fourthly, the six young people were given the opportunity of seeing one part of the world which needs God’s plan of salvation, and the challenge of devoting their lives to bringing the Waters of Life to faraway lands. Fifthly, we believe that the ecclesias back home, to which our corps members belong, will benefit by their experiences of teaching, exhorting, giving Bible classes, and conducting C.Y.C. programs.”
A quote from the conclusion of above mentioned report.
Proposed Program
Time: An eight week summer program running from mid-June to mid-Aug. Area: Panama City Ecclesia
We would like to see six young brethren go to Panama and work with a resident missionary for an eight week period. Their objective would be to canvass in the Panama City area and begin holding classes and culminate their efforts with a campaign. Their work would be structured so as to go through the planting, watering, and germinating process with the goal of arriving at the end of the eight weeks with a number of people who have shown a sincere interest in further study of the Word. When the young missionaries leave, the resident missionaries would then continue with a long-term first principle study class with the people who evidence sincere interest. Cost
We estimate the total cost to be in the neighborhood of $700 per participant based on our experience of last year. This cost includes transportation from Los Angeles. We would like to see $250 of the cost per participant to be borne by the young missionary; the rest of the cost would be borne by the PCCBM through specially ear marked donations from the brotherhood.
The young missionaries will probably live with one of the resident missionaries in a highly organized and disciplined fashion as the young missionaries of last year did.
