When life’s storms break in the darkness,
And the waves are rough and wild,
There’s a beacon in the distance,
Look, and see! my troubled child.
Faint at first, then ever nearer,
Now its beams gleam through the night,
And the tumult cannot harm you
If your eyes stay on the light.
Never falter, never waver,
Follow through the gloom, and then
You will find the storm subsiding,
And you’ll glimpse the shore again.
Brightly shining is the Beacon,
God’s own Word that speaks to you,
Until Jesus in His glory
Makes the earth and all things new.
