A little closer to God Today,
a little closer to Him we love.
That’s why we’re here at Idyllwild ,
to learn of Him who dwells above.
In the lovely setting of hills and trees,
and the cool fresh air of the mountain breeze.
We’ve left behind in the valley below,
all the mundane thoughts and attendant woe.
Beloved, earth’s treasures cannot compare,
with peace of mind in the mountain air.
Discussing the things of which we’re part,
and which are greatest within our heart.
If the thoughts of God which I’ve learned today,
Have really come to my mind to stay
Then, with God’s help and with God’s grace,
Let them be reflected in my face.
Be more like him who verily
Once walked the shores of Galilee
Who, when reviled struck not again
But showed compassion towards all men
Let’s keep the vision of beauty here,
Where the air is fresh and the skies are clear
Let’s really be a true God’s child
In the beautiful realm of Idyllwild.
