Corrie Ten Boom is credited as having said, “Worry is an old man with , bended head carrying a load of feathers he thinks is lead” Robert Louis Stephenson said, “Anyone can carry his burden, however hard, until nightfall Anyone can do his work, however hard, for one day Anyone can live sweetly, patiently, lovingly, purely, till the sun goes down”

Anyone can, but worry says, “Oh no you can’t,” Worry makes our load much harder to bear Worry takes the load of feathers and turns it into lead.

Does worry accomplish anything? Well, yes it does, it causes all kinds of illnesses It so debilitates and weakens our body that we are less capable of carrying the load or facing the problem that is worrying us Worry is a sin To worry is to show our lack of trust m God If God is in charge of our lives, then we need not worry If God is not m charge of our lives, we have a bigger problem than worry can solve.

Bro Bill Septak had the following saying taped to the shelf above his desk “If you trust, You do not worry, If you worry, You do not trust” How can we trust in God and worry at the same time? This is why worry is a sin To worry is to distrust God and to distrust God is a sin He has promised that “He will never leave us or forsake us,” but worry replies, “Oh yes He will” God has told us that “all things work together for good for those who love God,” and worry says, “Oh no they don’t”

A French philosopher once said, “My life has been full of terrible misfortunes, most of which never happened” How sad to have been upset by so many things that never happened Ninety percent of our worries are either about the past or the future We can eliminate 40% of our worries by realizing that what has happened has happened and we cannot change what has happened It is over and done Life goes on from here.

We can eliminate another 50% of our worries if we realize that this is the only day in which we have to live and worrying about the future will do absolutely no good at all Jesus told us, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself Each day has enough trouble of its own”

This leaves us with only ten percent and that ten percent represents today We need to learn to live today, for this is the only day we really can live This day is a manageable load, according to Robert Louis Stephenson We can now carry the load for it has turned from lead back into feathers Now we say with Paul, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”

We put our trust in the Lord and allow Him to guide our steps “Trust m the LORD with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”
