Less than one half of all the people who voted in the recent presidential election wanted Richard Nixon to be the next president Although the majority of voters voted against him, he is the president elect of the United States

Our candidate did not run Very few people in the United States want him to be their ruler He is not popular with the big political bosses nor the labor unions The fact that most of the people would not pick him will not prevent him from taking the reigns of government at the appointed time When he takes office he will not be faced with an antagonistic congress as will Nixon Every single subordinate will see eye to eye with their commander in chief No one will over ride his veto and his word will be final in every instance.

He shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears. But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked “

Our candidate will not be president of the United States He will be king of the world His term will not be four or eight years, for he shall reign for 1000 years. The president of the United States will have to resign from his office as will the ruler of every other country This is because the Lord shall be king over all the earth, in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one”

There are problems facing this country and the world today which no man can solve In order to get elected, candidates try to give the impression that they will stop the war, curb inflation, make our streets safe, etc but in actual fact crime and violence will continue until our candidate assumes control World conditions will continue to deteriorate for “evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived” for “in the last days perilous times shall come. “

Just how bad things well get before our candidate, Jesus Christ, returns to personally put things right, we cannot say, but this we know, he will come When he comes he will break in pieces and consume all the kingdoms of the world He will take vengence on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ”

Like mortal rulers, those who will rule with him will be those who believed in him before he was king Nixon will bring to Washington his own group of faithful party workers and out will go the present administration and all their followers.

If we belong to Christ’s party, we cannot be a part of those who are now in high places His kingdom is not of this world Our Master has told us, ‘If ye were of the world, the world would love his own but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you” John said, The world knoweth us not, because it knew him not’ Our candidate will never be picked by the majority of the people but we couldn’t care less He has been picked by His Father who said, ‘This is my beloved son, hear ye him We hear him, we believe in him, we work for him, we look forward to reigning with him He is worthy to reign for he `wast slain, and hast re deemed us to God by his blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation, And hast made us unto our God kings and priests and we shall reign on the earth “

His day is coming His day will be our day too if we have been careful not to get mixed up in the affairs of this life “so that day come upon us unawares For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man”

“I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or an good thing I can do to any fellow-being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again.” Penn

Today is the day to do it. How often have we meant to send a card to someone sick and put it off until we heard they had died ? The opportune time to do good is now. Samuel Johnson said, “He who waits to do a great deal of good at once, will never do anything.” A cup of cold water isn’t much, yet Jesus said “Verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.”

The time to do a good deed is now. Don’t wait for the spectacular. It is the everyday little acts of kindness that please God. Jesus commended the righteous for visiting the sick, feeding the hungry and clothing the poor. They were surprised when they were told that inasmuch as they did it unto the least of his brethren they had done it unto Jesus. James defines pure religion as visiting the fatherless and widows in their affliction and keeping unspotted from the world.

It has been said that the only thing we can really do for God is to be kind to some of His other children. How can we show our love for God except by loving our brother? John puts it well when he says “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen ? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.”

Love, like faith, is only demonstrated by works. It is difficult to prove we love someone we are ignoring. It is James who makes the point that there is no use saying to the destitute, “Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body.” True love will be so busy clothing and feeding the needy that they won’t even have time to talk about it.

It’s not who talks the best but he who does it. There is an old saying, “Actions speak louder than words.” While the Pharisees busied themselves prancing around in their long robes the poor widow was casting her two mites into the treasury. While Simon sat back condemning Jesus because he was allowing a sinner to touch his feet, Mary was busy anointing them and kissing them and wiping them with her hair.

Neither the widow nor Mary did very much but they did what they could. Two mites wasn’t very much but it was all the widow had. Mary’s act was a simple act of love. They did what they could. The question we must each ask ourselves is, are we? Are we putting off doing little things waiting for the big opportunity? Are we holding on to our mites waiting for the big money to give? Are we waiting to do a great deal of good at once and as a result doing nothing?

We cannot begin earlier than today but we must not begin later. After all, we will not pass through this day ever again. If there be any kindness we can show, any good thing we can do, let us do it now.

There is an old proverb that says “He that knows not and knows not that he knows not is a fool; avoid him. He that knows not and knows that he knows not is ignorant; teach him.”

There is a vast difference between the fool and one who is ignorant. Solomon tells us that “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that harkeneth unto counsel is wise.” The wise man also said, “A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.”

A week at any one of the Bible Schools shows us as Paul so aptly put it, “If any man think that he knoweth anything, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.” The key is realizing that we “know not” and determining that with God’s help, we will learn. Without this attitude of mind we cannot be taught.

We have all heard of the young man who left home in his teens thinking that his father didn’t know anything at all only to return a few years later and find much to his amazement how much his father had learned in so few short years. The fool doesn’t know that he doesn’t know and therefore despises his father’s instruction just as Solomon said.

In a very real sense, we are all little children in the sight of God. None of us knows what we ought. Solomon realized this and said, “I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.” Unfortunately many who know not that they know not are puffed up. The wisdom of the world seems to have this effect on them. It appears the wiser one gets in the wisdom of this world the harder it becomes to accept God’s truth. How foolish and how sad to become so wise in wordly things that we become puffed up to the point that we are unable to accept what God has said. God has declared through Paul, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.” “The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.”

When it comes to the things that really matter in life, the world around us knows not and not only knows not that they know not, but they don’t care; No wonder they are classed as fools in the sight of God. They certainly are ever learning — for the colleges and universities are packed with students giving all their time and energies to learn — yet with all this learning they are never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. It isn’t that they do not have the mental capacity, for they go to great lengths to master the sciences and the arts which will be as valuable to them in the day of Christ’s coming as was the knowledge of those who stood out in the rain when Noah entered the Ark.

Paul tells us that Jesus is coming “in flaming fire to take vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Ignorance is not bliss. Let each of us realize as did Solomon and Paul that we are but little children and know not as we ought to know but that God has promised us through James that if we lack wisdom, “let us ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” This does not mean that we can go to sleep and wake up smart, but it does mean that if we conscientiously ask for God’s help and apply ourselves that we will learn those things that are able to make us wise unto salvation. The more we know, the more faith we will have, for “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Let us know and know that we know. The people that do “know their God shall be strong, and they that understand among the people shall instruct many . . . and they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.”
