Blessings unsought have come to us each day

The gracious gifts of One above. Our life and all that come our varied way

The token of a Father’s love.

Sustained and guided, too, the present world,

The creatures great, the creatures small. The ocean waves which toss, the winds that whirl

The smaller streams and the water fall.

A year has passed. And now a new one born

Unseen by man the change is made. Time still unmeasured, no eve, night or morn

For Him who earth’s foundations laid. And yet He cares and calls to every man And fain wound grant a better way, Than living out a few years’ weary span He offers all eternal day.

May we who have professed to run the race

Take thoughtful heed for this New Year. And seek in prayer for strength and heavenly grace

Exhort ourselves with words austere. ‘Tis not the hours or years we give the Lord

In hope to hear the words “Well done” The crown of life for those is well assured

Who give their best through Yahweh’s Son.

‘One thing needful’. Is read and read again

The Teacher taught by precept too. And all is penned in words recorded plain

What God would have His servant do. We have so much, and those who have the more

Is not the rule to measure by.

The widow gave just what she had in store

Unmindful of the passers by.
