Our dear Brother John,
Whilst reading an exposition on 1 Cor.13:8-13, it occurred to me that there is a most interesting connection between 1 Cor. 13:12 (“see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face”), and James 1:23 (“For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who observes his natural face in a mirror; for he observes…”). Clearly the mirror is the Word, which is able to fully equip the man of God (i.e. face to face). When Paul was the pen of 1 Cor. 13, the mirror was not perfect, being available only in parts through the individual’s possession of the Holy Spirit gifts. No doubt this is all well known to you.
Anyhow, thank you once again.
Sincere love in the hope of Israel, that our Saviour may return as King,
Russell Ebbs
