An Interesting Opportunity is available to a couple who is  adventuresome and willing to spend up to a year in the service of our Lord.

There are about 10 brothers and sisters in Sri Lanka, an island southeast of India. Growth has been slow over the past 15-20 years under the efforts of the Australian CBM, but prospects are now looking much better.

At present Bro. Ken Chalmers and his wife, Sis. Dorothy, from Melbourne, Australia, have been in Sri Lanka since September, 2002, and plan to stay until September of this year. A base house has now been established in Negombo with many contacts being seen.

Support is provided from time to time, short-term fieldworkers, mostly from Australia, who spend two to six weeks visiting contacts and supporting the work in other ways. There is an ongoing need for these shorter-term field workers, but more particularly there is a serious need to find someone to take Ken and Dorothy’s place when they leave. We need to provide the stability and permanent presence that is starting to yield fruit in Sri Lanka.

The house is very good by Sri Lankan standards and has all the basic Western facilities and plenty of rooms. The ACBM pays all on-location expenses including the house expenses. Missionaries are able to work in English. As the work spreads, the local brothers and sisters will take care of non-English speaking contacts.

There are several very promising contacts who greatly appreciate being visited and tutored. If you are interested, contact Bro. Barry Pilbeam at barry@stampit.com.au.
