How many times have you heard this? “What is the name of your church?” “Christadelphian?” “I’ve never heard of you!”
Because we are a small, quiet community it seems we are constantly toiling in relative obscurity. There are ways, however, that we can spread the name of the Christadelphians and, more importantly, spread the wonderful message of hope in Jesus Christ.
Local cable access
More and more ecclesias are turning to their local access cable stations as a cost-efficient way of spreading God’s word in their home community. Christadelphian Outreach has produced 160 episodes of the popular “This is Your Bible” television series formatted for local access cable. This is your Bible is a half hour, interview-style program which addresses first principles of the word of God.
Outstanding results
The results have been outstanding, In the Los Angeles, CA area, T.I.Y.B. is seen on 17 local cable stations. Bro. Ed Hawthorne of the Los Angeles Ecclesia reports they receive six to seven calls per month asking for more information about the Christadelphians. T.I.Y.B. currently airs in Detroit, five communities in Massachusetts, throughout Rhode Island and, as of last September, throughout New Jersey.
According to Bro. Steve Cheetham of Moorestown, NJ Ecclesia, T.I.Y.B. reaches the households of about 1.7 million people. The Moorestown Ecclesia has received so many calls as a result of these broadcasts that they have solicited help from the other New Jersey ecclesias. Also, as Bro. Reg Solomon reports, the T.I.Y.B. is continuing to broadcast in Antigua.
New programs produced
Each series of up to 26 programs has been filmed at a different host ecclesia utilizing the knowledge and talents of brethren in that area. Christadelphian Outreach has traveled to Boston, Los Angeles, Detroit, Cranston, RI and Houston, TX. Lord willing, C.O. will be returning to Detroit in May to produce another 26 programs.
