I found myself standing in a large hall. While I knew I had never been there before, my surroundings were strangely familiar.
All in anticipation
Thousands of people filled the hall. Looking around, you could see on their faces their frame of mind.
All of them displayed an air of expectancy, but it was obvious that not all of them expected something good to happen. There were anxious faces showing great concern about what was coming. There were fearful faces which looked like they had something to hide. And there were faces full of relief which looked like they had been diligently running a long race and were glad that it was over.
A court scene
The setting had the appearance of a large court room. Yet there was no area for the jury and no provision for the prosecution or the defense. There was simply one large chair having a reading desk on either side of it. My mind searched for an answer as to where I was. Why did everything seem so familiar?
Suddenly, there was an eerie silence and a man of majestic appearance entered the room followed by a large company of attendants.
The reality of my circumstances began to flood my mind; I was standing at the judgment seat of Christ. The chair was for the judge; the desks were for the books of life and remembrance. All those years of waiting -now it had finally arrived. What would I say? How would I explain? My whole life passed before me. Why hadn’t I been more diligent and more enthusiastic? Why hadn’t I been more accommodating and more understanding toward the brothers and sisters of the man who now stood there in divine majesty?
