To the Brethren and Sisters of the Shelburne, ONT Ecclesia:
I have reached a time in my life now when I feel it is important that I take on the saving name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I realize that belief in the word of God and baptism are essential for salvation.
I also realize that baptism involves the crucifixion of the flesh and denial of worldly materialism, for we cannot serve God and mammon. Matthew 6:19-24 states that we should, “Lay up treasures for ourselves in heaven” and in verse 33 the Lord Jesus tells us to, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you.” Therefore my desire is to become a part of the greatest family on earth, with the Lord Jesus Christ as my head and God as my Father.
In conclusion, I would like to recall Matthew 12:50 which says, “For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” I wish to do the will of our Father and become a sister of Christ in the household of faith.
Love,
Carmel Payne
