An apology is due to author and readers for our handling last month of two points in connection with Bro. John Bilello’s essay on “God and the Universe.”

In taking the first segment of Bro. John’s submission, we did not properly convey the devotional atmosphere of his total essay. The overall tone of his article is that, in spite of their personal bias, because of recent discoveries, scientists are being forced to acknowledge the existence of God. Bro. John is not arguing the “Big Bang” theory, pro or con. He alluded to it in illustration of his point that the universe had a beginning which indicates to physicists that God exists. By serializing his total essay, we should edit each installment so that the overall message is maintained. Our failure to do this reflected a poor editing job on our part, for which we apologize.

We should also note that stating Bro. Bilello’s academic credentials was strictly our idea. We felt some of his assertions regarding scientific matters would require documentation unless readers knew of his professional background. Because we did not explain why we referred to Bro. John’s job position, some people were offended by our handling of the matter.

Hopefully, we will learn from our mistakes and will improve in our editorial duties, God willing.
