Brethren who have been active in reunion activity for a number of years, realized very early in their discussions that there was nothing to be gained by trying to unravel and reconstruct the precise sequence of events and actions taken by individual ecclesias in the period 1896-1906. Quotations could be dug up from all issues of Christadelphian magazines, ad infinitum, during the period when ecclesias were wrestling with the problem of how to deal with the doctrinal errors that had come into the brotherhood.

It is historically correct, however, to regular contact with the magazine, and took no exception to the action of the Birmingham Central Ecclesial when it adopted the present amendment to Article 24. He also authored a synonymous resolution while in Melbourne which was published in the August 1898 Christadelphian. The Amendment then became the basis of fellowship for all ecclesias in the Amended fellowship world wide, and for The Christadelphian magazine to this day. A few of these ecclesias chose to use their own alternative wording, while fully accepting the BASF as their basis of fellowship.

Over the years since the adoption of the Amendment, brethren in the Amended fellowship have faithfully followed the advice of Brother Robert Roberts, written in the May 1898 Christadelphian, to uphold the General Principle—”That men are responsible to the resurrection to condemnation who refuse subjection to the will of God,” but that it is an Uncertain Detail — “Where men admit that rebels and unbelievers who deserve punishment will rise at the resurrection to receive that punishment without reference to the question whether they are baptized or not, they admit all that can righteously be exacted from them. It is impossible for any man to say, who are so deserving.”

Looking back now, we all realize, and are thankful to our Creator, that the Truth has been blessed by Him and has prospered world wide. All during that time brethren have remained steadfast to the teaching of the BASF.

All that needs to be said, can be said, clearly and simply, in just 39 words. For example, “An individual’s responsibility to God’s judgments, including a resurrectional judgment, is directly related to his knowledge and understanding of the Divine revelation. Only God will decide which individuals have sufficient understanding to be brought forth to a resurrectional judgment.”

All faithful brethren desire, and have prayed earnestly and fervently for reunion. We are all Christadelphians for unity of mind, based on sound Scripture based belief.
