It had been a very ordinary day. The morning rain had just ended, bringing the humidity to a very uncomfortable level. He sat in his house and opened his Bible as he had done so many times before. His quest for the Truth had spanned over thirty years. Daily he had prayed that God would direct him in his studies to a proper understanding of the Truth. For years he studied with various religious groups such as the Catholics, Adventists, Baptists and Methodists. Still, he found the things he read in his Bible did not coincide with what these churches were teaching. Somewhat frustrated, he could only continue to read his Bible and pray.
But, this was indeed a very special day. There was a knock at the door. He arose to find two young persons there, each holding their Bible. They had noticed that he had been reading his Bible and they asked if they could come in and study with him. The first class with these young people left him thirsty for more information as he heard the teachings they expounded were correct and based on verses from the Bible. There was no question in his mind that these two young people had been sent to him by God.
After several additional classes with other members of the Colon Ecclesia in Panama, he realized the need to be baptized into the saving Name of Our Lord. In a swimming pool in Colon, in 1972, the Christadelphian body worldwide welcomed a new brother to the fold . . . Bro. Fernando Gordon. Since that time, Bro. Gordon has been a faithful servant in that Ecclesia. He presides, exhorts and teaches classes regularly, as well as being a member of the Colon Arranging Board.
We have all heard stories similar to this one. People have learned the Truth by picking up literature inadvertently left at a train station. In one case, a man was approached by Truth Corps members while he was feeding his sisters cats at at her house while she was on vacation.
