Libya, named in Ezekiel (ch. 38) as one of the components in the Gogian coalition, has recently stationed an estimated 6,000 troops just over its border in Chad, its southern neighbor.

On January 17, 1981, I held a conversation with Joe Richie, Washington Post Staff Writer, who works on the foreign news desk. According to Richie, the Libyan troops that have annexed the territory in Chad were discovered “about two months ago,” probably not too long after the inception of their invasion. Notwithstanding, he admitted the number of troops is still a mater of “conjecture.”

However, he said that “there have been indications” to support these facts, alluding to a communique by the 13-nation Organization of African Unity that called on Libya to withdraw its forces immediately from Chad. The salutary measure, it would seem, means that the OAU will resist Libyas intrusiveness, but it is doubtful this will include military intervention.

Whether Libya advances their troops or pulls out, the soil already subjugated is at least an indication that Libya, like the USSR, not only has the military might to invade another country, but is quite uninhibited to exercise it. To carry this thought a step further, consider the prophesized alliance of Libya and the USSR.

” . . . Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmets . . .” (Ezek. 38:5).

Furthermore, Gog and its allies are prophesied to invade Israel to fulfill a specified purpose of God.

“And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army: and thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, 0 Gog, before their eyes,” (Ezek. 38: 15-16)

It should be noted some believe, myself included, this will occur after the return of Christ. Nonetheless, one thing is certain: Libya’s ultimate end.

“Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands,…. and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.” (Ezek. 39: 4)
