Jeremiah denounced the wicked and encouraged those who tried to serve God. Are we Jeremiah-like, or do we criticize the faithful and praise the wicked. We shall not have a month’s or a week’s warning before Christ comes. The announcement will suddenly be made that He is here. Let us heed the signs that tell us that He is due. We do well to remember that the Bible and not our neighbor is our standard of righteousness. Do we hunger and thirst after righteousness? If so, we shall be found at the meetings and at the outings and also at the various efforts put forth on behalf of the Truth by faithful Brethren. Faith comes only in one way, and it is not by reading the newspapers or novels or by listening to the world’s foolishness. Faith comes by reading and pondering the Scriptures. A child thinks nothing of receiving a scratch when engaged in an exciting game, but if he receives one when he is doing nothing, he thinks much about it and frets. We should be so interested in the Truth that we should think nothing of little knocks incidental to carrying it through. They should pass unnoticed.
