Lord God of Israel we give Thee thanks that in mercy thou hast brought us again to thy land: to stand once more and view the city which is beautiful for situation. Was not ancient Salem builded here, City of Peace, City of Melchizedek, he who met victorious Abraham in the way with bread and wine. And wilt thou not in this mountain make unto all nations a feast of fat things; of wines on the lees well refined. In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul, for surely thou hast revived thy work in the midst of the years: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob according to thy sure promises. So as the hills, on which we stand, are round about Jerusalem, so also thy angel encampeth around them that fear thee; yea and we remember thou lovest the Gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob and thine eyes are upon this land from one years end even to another.

Over this city our Lord wept and here the word was said, His blood be upon us and upon our children, yea darkness came and earthquake. The land also has enjoyed her sabbaths, but soon the King must come with healing in his beams. From that mountain He took leave of those He loved and who love Him and a promise rang in their ears . . . this same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven shall so come in like manner: and we cry with the beloved apostle . . . even so come, Lord Jesus.

May it soon be said: Who is this that comes from Edom glorious in his apparel; put on Thy strength 0 Zion: put on Thy beautiful garments. For Yahweh has established His King upon His holy hill of Zion and the law shall go forth from this place even to the ends of the earth. There Jacob buried Rachel in the way: but as the Master came forth from the tomb outside this city wall, even so shall thy saints arise.

Keep us in the way Oh Lord, strengthen us indeed that in these last days we may hold fast that which is good, for all else is vanity and vexation of spirit save these thy great and precious promises. Hide us indeed in the hollow of thy hand until thy indignation be overpast: and worship before thy holy hill to receive thy blessing, and worship before thee in the beauty of holiness: to see the King in his glory and to receive the appointed work, kings and priests.

Oh Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God and Father of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, thou art faithful that promised, new every morning are thy mercies and great is thy faithfulness. Thy bow is still in the sky: day still follows night to assure us: Thy precious word is in our hands to fill our minds at such times with glorious thoughts. Restore in us all the joy of thy great salvation: cast all our sins behind thy back and remember them no more against us through our Saviour Jesus Christ; and bring us to an inheritance amongst the saints in light, to a glorious unity with thee and thy Son in His Kingdom.
