Acts 20. 28:

  • A.V.—Take heed therefore unto your­selves, and to all the flock over which the Holy Ghost hath made you over­seers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
  • R.V.—is the same in substance.
  • R.S.V.—Holy Spirit. (The American Committee of Revisers preferred that “for ‘Holy Ghost’ adopt uniformly the rendering ‘Holy Spirit’.”)
  • N.E.B.—Holy Spirit has given you charge, as shepherds of the church of the Lord, which he won for himself by his own blood. (Footnote: some witnessess read of God.)
  • E.D.—the Church of God, which he ac­quired by the blood of his own. (Footnote: The Common version and Vatican M.S. have been followed in the above rendering, the church of God. Griesbach, and nearly all mod­ern editors, read “Church of the Lord”. Concerning “purchased with his own blood” . . . “The reader can supply the elliptical word after own, whether it be Son or Lamb or Sacri­fice, thus: “Feed the church of God, which he acquired by the blood of his own son).
